Institute of Leadership and Management

In partnership with the Institute of Leadership and Management, we offer five leadership accreditation programmes, ILM 2 for aspiring young (student) leaders, ILM3 for aspiring middle leaders and ILM 5 for aspiring senior leaders. In 2018 we introduced the ILM L3 for Student Senior Leadership teams, which typically consists of the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl and Sixth-Form Senior Prefects. In 2023 the Arete partnership was granted approval to run ILM Level 7 for senior leaders, this programme is due to have it's first cohort within the 2023/24 academic year. These three programmes have served to promote collegiality across the Arete partnership and ensure that we are embedding the core Arete principles of leadership:

• Service: Putting students first and leaving no-one behind

• Meritocracy: Championing excellence through effort

• Empowerment: Encouraging ownership and personal responsibility

Evaluations evidence that all courses have been extremely successful, with students and staff alike recognising the positive impact the respective programmes have had on themselves as leaders. Staff also articulated that they have relished the opportunity to work with colleagues across the partnership.

The ILM programme commences in the Autumn term with our annual ‘Awards and Launch’ evening. The event is an excellent networking opportunity, where ILM graduates and new recruits can meet, celebrating the successes that have been achieved and preparing the new cohort for the journey ahead.
